goat cheese butter

Monday nights are always a bummer because Joe works till 7 and I just mope till he gets home. At least there was steak tonight, with goat cheese butter we whipped up (no, not churned fresh from the cow and goat) last night. Steak is a rare treat (oh dear, another unintentional pun) and the butter was a lovely topping that gave some piquancy to the steak without overpowering it. The pups had a pretty great time with the scraps too.

Goat cheese butter

2 oz goat cheese, crumbled
2 oz unsalted butter, room temperature
1 Tbsp parsley, finely chopped

Mush 'em all together. Dump on a piece of Saran Wrap, form into a log about 1 inch in diameter, and roll up the Saran Wrap. Twist the ends to make a butter-cheese sausage. Chill. When ready to use, unwrap and slice to serve.

Did you know that dogs love yogurt? Well, if Hollie and Choxie are at all representative, dogs will commit unthinkable crimes for yogurt. And even for whey, the watery stuff you can drain from the yogurt to thicken it. I wish I had pictures. I made yogurt yesterday. In a crock pot. That's what the kids like to call a teaser.
