Ultrasound cookies!

This won't be much of a post, since I don't have the photos on this computer - one of these days I'll add pics but it's not a top priority since we're on vacation! In Spain! I thought I'd at least post to say that, yes, I did complete my challenge and blogged about it on 'reveal day', while my hubby's out for a run in the Parque del Retiro.

The September 2010 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Mandy of “What the Fruitcake?!” Mandy challenged everyone to make Decorated Sugar Cookies based on recipes from Peggy Porschen and The Joy of Baking.

The cookies were supposed to be September-themed, which allowed people to choose something important about the month and decorate accordingly - back-to-school, autumn, personal milestones or family holidays. September doesn't have any particular significance for me, but we did have 2 birthdays at work, so I decided to make work-themed birthday cookies. And thus prenatal ultrasound cookies were conceived (pun intended). I am no artist, as you will see, but I had fun. And I just realized I have a cookie album on Facebook, so I can indeed post some pics. I will also include a ridiculous disclaimer that some of the cookies depict the uncovered fetal form, so to speak, and these will be posted 'after the jump'.

There are some tiny owls in there too, in honor of football season and the Fighting Rice Owls, but mostly because I found this adorable little owl cookie cutter in a drawer and wanted to put it to use. It's great for extra scraps of cookie dough!

hee! i love what someone said, that it looks like it's eating a pretzel - that's the 3-vessel umbilical cord!

this is my favorite!

although no anomalies were planned, it's amazing what can be created by a terrible artist - sirenomelia, maybe?

labeled, for your convenience

his and hers!
 Happy September, everyone!

love, Stacy :)

  5. I just stumbled across this, as a new OB ultrasound tech looking for images for a craft project (not baking), and I love it so much! Nicely done!
